Webisodes on the Rise?

>> Monday, July 21, 2008

The success of Doctor Horrible's Sing A Long Blog proved a lot about the power of the internet. You don't have to sacrifice the quality for a low budget project; although there were a lot less special effects, atually making the actors entertain.

Certain things were sacrificed, but upon viewing with Ryan, even he was pleased with it. I picked apart the dialogue, which was beyond cheesy, at least when it came to Cpt. Hammer; whilst Ryan criticized screen shots and transitions.

Although we disagreed on a lot of things, one thing we agreed on was that quality doesn't have to be sacrificed, thought quantity might be.

Another low budget project with many many angry writers who did not go back to jobs, on July 4th 2008 (Independence Day) their new project www.strike.tv went live. Perhaps the return of genres is on the rise? Although the website is up, a lot of the projects are still in production and so there are only teasers available.

The best way to stay updated is to sign up for the newsletter.

This is very exciting for me as I tire for shows that are supposed to appeal to the masses, sometimes I wonder what genius entertainment there would be if writer's were not pandering to networks. Now it would appear that I get to see.

As an aspiring writer, though going into a different field, this really hits close to home as I see writer's embarking into a new era. Its quite exciting and I hope to see more of it.
